Ceramic signage is extremely
durable and weather resistant.

The photos below show how a
complex logo was faithfully
crafted in clay, high-fired, then
glazed to match company colors.

The "big M"
and client's name were cut by hand and applied
to 36"x24"
clay slabs.

Special logo
features were scribed
into semi- hard clay prior to the first (high) firing.

Next, glaze was applied in two days.
A final 16 hour firing completed the process.

Our updraft gas kiln, an Olsen 36, has 12 burners.  We also have a 48" raku
kiln, and a Skutt electric kiln.

  Some folks think it
doesn't snow in
the Pacific NW.
Our propane tank is "buried" in front of the shop.

These cans are used
during raku firings to
reduce (smoke) pots.
This is definitely a "fair weather sport" up here in the mountains!
